TUESDAY, 04.23.02 so it's not the last post before i leave... i ran into a friend i haven't seen in four years... i used to spend so much time with her and then we just lost track of each other completely... crazy... come to find out she lives in seattle and is just visiting this week... it was amazing serendipity and we spent the afternoon together... this trip back home has been blessing after blessing... i'm so happy right now...
this will probably be my last post before i leave tomorrow for tennessee... texas has been great... unfortunately, brian will be leaving to new york tomorrow when i head out to tennessee... it would be wonderful if he could go with us, but he's starting a new job... the vacation time with him has been wonderful, though... i'm very happy that he got to see where i grew up and also to meet so many of my friends here... tonight we may venture out to "cornyation" which is the gay community's parody of the citywide fiesta celebrations that are going on right now... should be fun... well, until next time, this is me saying, "toodles..."
SATURDAY, 04.20.02 having a great time in texas... it's very hot outside... i'm getting to eat at all of my old favorite restaurants... i'm getting to dance in my old favorite dives... and i'm getting to do something i never really did when i lived here: be a tourist... it's kinda fun... so, i'm staying with my friend howard and it's great!!! since i've been here i've also been able to see many friends and family including (pictured) liddy and my nephew frankie... brian got to see the alamo... he was very excited... when i used to work at a hotel here in san antonio i was always amazed at the number of tourists coming here to see the alamo... i mean, yeah, it has all this history and whatever, but... it's so friggin' boring... it's a silly little building... and get this, driving into texas we came across these billboards that said something like, "texas doesn't take kindly to terrorists: REMEMBER THE ALAMO!" but... wait... huh??? we lost the battle of the alamo... only about a dozen people survived and they were only some women and slaves... i mean, i know that "remember the alamo" was this call to boost morale, but... well, i dunno... it was just weird to be back in a state where confederate flags still wave above signs denouncing terrorism... anyway, texas is great...
TUESDAY, 04.16.02 don't cry, jonno. we'll be back some day. hello texas. i'm happy to see you again.
MONDAY, 04.15.02 went to see the sun set over the mississippi river last night with greg from the night before... it was beautiful...
SUNDAY, 04.14.02 went out again last night (of course) but only after meeting up with jonno for coffee and then to see a play that he co-wrote with his boyfriend richard and someone else (*shrug*)... it's called "hell's belles" and it's BRILLIANT!!! i'm begging them to bring it to new york...
after the play we went out to bourbon pub for the "foam party"... had never been to one of these before... it's insane... they pour this wet foamy stuff on the dance floor and bury everyone in it... there were nekkid boys running around all over the place... brian and i decided that we really couldn't take the smell of it all so we went onto the balcony overlooking bourbon street... across at oz we see a very lonely looking boy standing on the wall by himself... so, being the caring and compassionate people that we are (*ahem*) we called him over... he didn't want to come up into the bar so we went down on the street to meet him... his name is jack and he's nineteen... NINETEEN??? sheesh... it's a good thing he was so gosh darned sweet or, well, hmm... i don't know... let's just say that he was soooo sweet that we risked jail time to give him a good time... no, there was no sex... sheesh... we just sort of helped him get into the bar... and he met a cute boy so it was worth it for us just to see him happy... awwwwwwwww...
enter: my dream boat... ahhhh, greg... adorable... and such a good damn kisser!!! i followed him around shamelessly for a while until he finally talked to me... it was infatuation at first sight... brian let me kiss on him for a while (thank you, baby) and it was great... today we're planning on meeting him up near toulane for a walk in the park... *birds singing happy songs*
here are pictures i took of these events with my cute new little camera (i had to show the foam picture in color because b/w looked even stranger than it already is):
SATURDAY, 04.13.02 got into new orleans at about 5pm... going to bed around 5am... seems about right... god, i miss the south...
THURSDAY, 04.11.02 "dan'l is leaving tonight on a plane..." well, actually, i'm leaving tomorrow morning, but i'm leaving regardless... i will be starting a TWO MONTH tour of the southern united states tomorrow... yup, i'm heading down to new orleans, texas, and tennessee... i'm expecting to return to new york in the second week of june... i may not have internet/phone access for a few weeks during my stay in tennessee so please don't get scared if i'm not able to update my site often... i'll try to get on and upload some pics and updates when i'm able to... this is going to be fun, but i'm a little freaked at leaving home for such a long time... my trips back to texas and the south always cause a sort of ripple in time... i pull out of reality for a while... so while i'm excited to go i'll be VERY excited to get back home in june...
THURSDAY, 04.04.02 okay, right up front, today is the day that my friends at geocities stop letting me use ftp to upload to my site... for those that don't know what that means: they've just made my service a bit more annoying and difficult to access... okay, fine!!! so i need a domain!!! ugh...
i don't know about anyone else, but these television ads aimed at getting people to stop smoking just make me want a cigarette even more... the bad thing about sitting at home all day watching channel 7 is that they're on three or four times an hour... i'm running out of cigarettes... this is not cool...
now, chris dixon, the former priest claiming to have been sexually molested at least three times by clergymen as a child (between 16 and 18 years old), is on the view right now... it's so confusing!!! this man went on to become a priest in the catholic church and work FOR the priest that molested him... he then becomes clinically depressed, resigns from the priesthood and brings a lawsuit against the church (finally settling for $125,000) where the church denied any wrongdoing... wait... what??? sheesh, i need a cigarette...
TUESDAY, 04.02.02 happy new month... it took a while to decide what to take pictures of for my background theme... sorry paul, decided to go with alien sex rather than my flying marzipan pig...
quite a bit has happened, actually, since my last post... i guess i just haven't had the energy (or desire?) to deal with geocities the last few days... i've been introduced to a new favorite band!!! conrad took me to see a band that was playing in williamsburg this weekend... the band is from petaluma, california, and they're called "the velvet teen"... they are "an art-pop/indie trio...whose songs range from the beautiful to the bittersweet, with soaring countertenor melodies, tastefully delicate harmonies..." they've been compared to radiohead, jeff buckley, the cure, death cab for cutie, and others... you should stop by their mp3.com page and check them out... they may be straight, but they are 21, adorable, a really great band, and coming to stay with me this summer!!!
