i forgot to tell you that ari gold's new cd space under sun (which i designed) is now available... it was very exciting to see another of my designs finished, although the printer messed up the UPC code on the back panel of the cover... i would have probably been the only one to notice until i said something... eh, well... you should get a copy of it... it's pretty good... i mean, the design is friggin' brilliant, but you know what i mean... p.s. new items added to the media page... p.p.s. tomorrow is a special day...

TUESDAY | 01.20.04 | 12:53pm | that's better... sorry to all those who were having trouble with this site as it was for the last week... flaw in design, i guess, but i think it's worked out fine for everyone (of course you'll let me know if you're having any problems...) speaking of problems -- lemme tell you about one of mine... seems that i failed to pay my sever bill a few months back and, while they have been incredibly generous about allowing me to continue to use their services i guess they finally got fed up with me and gave me something like a 56MB/day usage allowance and a nifty (sarcasm) banner ad placed on all of my pages... it throws off the design... sigh... i guess it's time to send them some money... it's really too bad that i'm broke... SO, in case you attempt to visit and get an error message, please do wait a while and try again... it'll all be sorted out soon (i hope)... oh, and my birthday is this sunday... woo hoo, i guess...

FRIDAY | 01.02.04 | 10:40pm | happy 2004 it's been a very very nice year so far... (happy 2004... take out one zero and re-arrange the other numbers and you'll get 420!!! happy new year!!!) spent new year's eve with some of charlie's friends from high school and that was a blast... had a very quiet day on the first and today went to see "return of the king" again... all in all it's been very easy and nice... then, tonight, i fell in love with someone else... we went over to his great aunt gege's house and started looking at old photo albums... at one point i came across this man and my heart stopped... i'm sorry, but is this guy the hottest or what??? it turned out to be charlie's grandad (see a current pic here... i mean he's still cute, but...) * note: don't worry izetta and all you other "in-laws" reading this right now... i'm kind of kidding so there's no reason to get worried or anything... plus, charlie gave me permission to slobber over old pictures of grandad... he thinks it's funny...

remember back when i told you about the woman who stopped me on the bus to take a photo of my happy tattoo??? you remember... her name is ina saltz and she's a professor of typography... well, i guess i inspired her to develop an obsession with typographic tattoos... she ended up seeking them out (going as far as attending an actual tattoo exposition) and eventually writing an article about them for a magazine called "step inside design"... here's the part of the article where i'm a big star:
a chance encounter on a new york city crosstown bus led me into a typographic tattoo obsession: i had never spotted a tattoo in a recognizable typeface before, much less a sans serif, so i was startled to see a young man with a tattoo of the word happy in lowercase helvetica (approximately 120 points high). dan'l is a graphic and web designer who had chosen helvetica specifically because of its simple, bold shapes.
